Hou, Odder

A maintenence free playground at the harbour

This playground located near the harbour in Hou, Odder was supplied for a building project, and was important to design a playground that complimented the maritime surroundings. This is why play equipment from the LEDON Pirates theme world, was an ideal choice. The choice of the Nathalie pirate ship and Pelle the pelican springer, makes it a memorable playground that will bring joy to all visitors at the harbour.

This cohisive playground solution, takes careful consideration into the available space, budget and play activities appropriate for a broad age range. All of LEDONs play equipment is produced using HDPE (High density polyethelene), and therefore is maintanance free. The material is highly durable, meaning that it is able to withstand harsh environments, such as the harbour atmosphere where HDPE material can withstand water very well.

This playground is a childs dream, inviting children to embark on exciting adventures, explore their imagination, and engage in role play. The wide range of play activities encourage physical development while helping children strengthen their motor, social, and cognitive skills through play and interaction with others.

Lynggården, Køge

A spacious area with multiple play zones

In the city of Køge, the housing association Lynggården, showcases multiple impressive play zones within their shared spaces, each catering to specific age groups with age appropriate play activities.

The first play zone has a special focus on the older age groups. The playground includes play equipment from several of our theme worlds, which makes it filled with thematic details from the deep jungle to far out on the sea. The adventurous playground therefore encourages creativity and role-playing, whilst also being challenging for the older children’s motor skills, as our big play system Saldor and Nathalie pirate ship are filled with physical activities.

The second play zone is an ideal space where imagination can be set free. Here you will find the eye catching Dagonet play system from LEDONs Castle theme world encourages role playing, while giving children the opportunity to challenge and develop their skills. This play system offers activities such as a vertical climbing wall, somersault bar, tube slide and a wobbly bridge.

The younger children can interact with the play activities at ground level, such as the treasure chest and key.

The third play zone is a play universe specifically designed with the younger children (ages 0-7) in mind, and blends Miniplay and Explore theme worlds together. Children can play with sensory elements like sand panels, the cozy Alfred hut, and a giraffe springer that supports balance and coordination. Vibrant colors and interactive features encourage curiosity and exploration.

Vildsund harbour

A budget friendly playground with a variety of play activities

This playground is located at the charming Vildsund harbour, which is situated west of the Vilsund Bridge. The playground was designed to offer a variety of different play activities, and is a great example of how budget friendly solutions do not need to compromise on fun.

Instead of investing in a large piece of play equipment or an entire playground at once, the Vildsund harbour decided to divide the project into two phases and expand the playground gradually over time. This approach allowed them to increase the variety of play activities while also minimising upfront costs. By dividing a project in phases, it makes it possible to build your dream playground at your own pace.

The playground complements its harbour surroundings, and embraces the pirates theme. At the heart of the playground, you will spot the Gafion pirate ship which has play features such as the telescope, which inspires storytelling and creativity, while helping children to immerse themselves in imaginative adventures.

At the side you will find the innovatively designed Windsurfer, which lets children hop on and plough through the waves at full speed! And for those who are looking for more energetic activities, this playground does not disappoint, as children can spin on the Pirouette or reach new heights on the double swing set.

Every element of this playground has been designed to create an immersive, engaging play environment, where each feature contributes to a fun play experience.

City of Raahe

A pirate ship as the main attraction

In the Finnish town of Raahe, a need arose for a playground near the town hall, as the area lacked proper facilities for play and a place to gather for the town’s youngest residents. As the city is located on the coast, the theme of the playground had to be the sea, and they also wished for one piece of equipment to be the main attraction.

Play equipment from our theme world LEDON pirates, was therefore the perfect solution. The main attraction became one of our largest pirate ships with an added rope tunnel. The ship has different zones filled with play activities, which means that it can accommodate many children at once and is suitable for a wide age group of children. The pirate universe was completed by a treasure island filled with activities, springers in the form of a shark and whale and lastly a parrot slide.

The combination of the playground sand and the blue poured-in-place rubber surfacing also helps to establish the pirate world and the maritime theme. The children are therefore easily transported into their role-playing games from the first glance.

As a result, the area around the town hall has become a meeting point for the city’s children, where they can let loose on the playground and explore the sea.

Middelfart Habour

A simple playground that makes a statement

When designing a new playground, sometimes less is more. A simple playground design can often be the most eye-catching and memorable. In South Funen, along the harbour in Middelfart, you will find one of LEDONs most popular pirate ships, Nathalie. The mid-sized pirate ship is packed with engaging design features and opportunities for imaginative play.

In the bow children can use the telescope to look out over the water, which sparks a sense of adventure and imaginative role play. The attention to the small details is really what makes this pirate ship stand out from the crowd. Features like the compass and anchor act as prompts that inspire new games, role play and storytelling at the playground.

The wobbly plank on the side of the ship is also an innovative design feature, that is fun, while still challenging children’s balance and coordination in an engaging way. The Nathalie ship also features a slide, which is always a popular activity that immediately draws children in.

The surrounding frame around the playground helps to highlight that this is a dedicated area to have fun and to play, while functioning as a place for children and adults to sit and gather. Whether to observe the playground or to take a break from playing. This simple and impressive playground is a perfect place for role-playing, adventure and fun!

Kongsdal Habour

A playground that attracts more visitors to the harbour

Alongside the southern shores of the Mariager Fjord, you will find the Kongsdal boat guild. The goal of this project was to design a playground that encourages more visitors to help create a vibrant, lively atmosphere at the harbour.

This project combines play equipment from LEDONs two popular theme worlds, Pirates and Explore in one playground, sparking instant excitement and invites children to dive into imaginative role play. With one of LEDON’s largest and most impressive pirate ships, Victoria, as the main attraction it makes this playground one to remember. The bow points directly towards the water, creating a realistic play experience letting children set their imagination free.

With play features like the Off-roader, the Raft and the Victoria pirate ship, this playground offers endless opportunities for children to create stories and embark on thrilling adventures, bringing their imaginations to life. The children can explore treasures, navigate the compass, and take a peek through the telescope, making every detail part of an immersive play experience. The variety of play activities allows children to build their own unique storyline by engaging with the playground equipment either separately, or together in one game.

Playing alongside the idyllic and calming atmosphere of the harbour, makes it a unique place to visit, while making children’s dreams come true.

Hindbærvænget, Kolding

The dream of a pirate ship came true

The homeowners’ association Blaabærvej had fallen in love with our pirate ships from the series LEDON Pirates. Our ships come in a large selection of sizes, and therefore the homeowners’ association could easily find one that fit into their budget and area. The height and size of the ship was crucial as they had to ensure that there was no view into the surrounding gardens. And at the same time, they wanted to preserve an area of the lawn for playing football. Therefore, the choice fell on the model Nathalie, which is one of our medium-sized ships.

The ship Nathalie is full of play activities for both big and small children. With a movable wheel, anchor, telescope, plank and much more, as well as a slide, there are many hours of entertainment for the children. To create a real pirate universe, the ship was supplemented by two springers shaped like seals and a seesaw designed as a raft. This combination of play equipment gives the children good opportunities for different kinds of play, just as it stimulates their imagination.

The area is often used by nearby day care institutions and children from the neighborhood, and they all enjoy going to the sea when they visit the playground.

Engparken, Ribe

Play zones on the playground provide space for children of all age groups

The homeowners’ association Centerområdet i Ribe had to replace their old playground on the area’s green space. With supplementary funds from both Norlys Vækstpulje and Esbjerg Municipality, the wish for a large playground that can accommodate children from 0-12 years of age became a reality.

The new playground is divided into several small areas, all suitable for specific types of play or age groups. For example, there is an area for the smallest children, which is designed with age-appropriate play equipment such as playhouses, a baby swing and a play system from our series LEDON MiniPlay, which has been specially developed for children from 0-3 years.

In addition, there is an area with swings as well as one with a balance course and a ship’s bow. The bigger children can enjoy our largest play system from LEDON Explore, which is full of opportunities to train gross motor skills using climbing walls, wobbly bridges, rope tunnels and slides.

Jens Henriksen, who is the chairman of the homeowners’ association, is very satisfied with the final playground and says:

We think that the finished result has succeeded really well. We are very proud to have been able to establish the playground to the extent that it actually is. The playground is used by our day care institutions – both kindergartens and nurseries to a large extent. During the day and at weekends, it is a gathering place for our residents in the homeowners’ association. So, we are very satisfied with the result that we have today.

Jens Henriksen, the chairman of the homeowners’ association

He also says the following about our collaboration:

The cooperation we have had with LEDON means that we will not hesitate to recommend LEDON for other future projects. If someone asks us about the collaboration, we have had with LEDON, then it has been incomparable – it has been really good. Only a big recommendation for LEDON from here.

Jens Henriksen, the chairman of the homeowners’ association

BørneUniverset, Hobro

A complete solution for BørneUniverset’s many outdoor areas

The newly built day care institution BørneUniverset needed playgrounds for all their outdoor areas. The institution’s wish was that all areas should invite children to play and support their natural development. Here with a focus on sensory integration, movement and opportunities for immersion.

The various play environments accommodate everything from the guest day care and the nursery to the kindergarten and special needs kindergarten. Therefore, each area has been designed with regard to the developmental- and age levels of the children as well as the surroundings and the space that were available. With play equipment from our various theme worlds, we have been able to meet all the institution’s wishes and needs.

The smallest children benefit from an arrangement with play equipment from our series LEDON MiniPlay, which has been specially developed for the age group 0-3 years. While the older children can have a go with play equipment from our theme worlds LEDON Explore and LEDON Pirates, both of which are suitable for role play and developed with lots of play activities.

All our play equipment has been developed in collaboration with children. Sejlklubben Mou Bro, Storvorde

A pirate playground on grass

Mou Bro Sailing Club near Aalborg in northern Jutland has been wanting a playground for a long time. The club wanted a playground where young children could play safely, and at the same time the solution needed to be budget-friendly and require a minimum of excavation.

The choice therefore fell on play equipment approved for installation on grass as well as reuse of the existing safety surfaces. In this way, the sailing club was able to save a lot of money on safety surfaces and contractors. According to Mou Bro Sailing club, children are thrilled with the playground, and the Sixtus bow section is particularly popular with all the playground’s captains and sailors who love to look out over the water.

The ship’s bow and the two springers – the shark and the sea lion – support the children’s role-play. In role-play, children develop their social skills and learn to set boundaries and to say no, etc. Therefore, role-play is very important for children’s development, and is a key focus area when developing our play equipment.
