Climbing frames and climbing nets from LEDON

All our climbing frames help to strengthen children’s natural development – physical, cognitive and social.

Playing with friends on a climbing frame at the playground teaches children how to collaborate. As they help each other to reach the top, children learn to communicate and show consideration for each other. At the same time, the sense of victory helps to bring children closer together. Achieving a common goal instills confidence in their own abilities as well as trust, and the children draw on this experience – combined with increased self-confidence – in other contexts, for example in the classroom.

In addition to the activity itself, which involves children climbing to the top of the net, playground climbing nets also encourage children to play other games such as tag, to compete with one another or to engage in role-play. Role-play is a particularly obvious activity, as the different geometric designs and built-in bird’s nests can easily be incorporated into playground games and support children’s imagination and creativity.

How does climbing develop children’s brains?

Playground climbing nets are not just fun, but also healthy. Climbing strengthens and builds the major muscle groups, motor skills and, not least, children’s sense of balance. Moving from one position to another involves a lot of different cross-lateral movements, which helps to stimulate neural activity between the two sides of the brain.

Coordination between the right and left sides of the brain is very important for children’s ability to learn, for example when learning to read, as the left side of the brain sees each individual letter, while the right side puts the letters together to form whole words and sentences.

Our climbing nets are designed with Taifun rope, an incredibly strong and hard-wearing rope with a steel core. The steel core ensures a tensile strength of 4,500 kg, so it is well-protected against vandalism, in addition to which it will not stretch or degrade with time. Thanks to the steel-core Taifun rope, the climbing nets are extremely strong, and will withstand the wildest climbs.

FAQs

Is a climbing net safe for children?

If you buy certified play equipment with climbing nets, you can be sure that it meets strict safety and quality requirements. In addition, all play equipment with a fall height of more than 1 metre must have a safety surface for extra protection. Our climbing nets are all TÜV-certified, and are also made using highly resistant steel-core Taifun rope, which has a very high tensile strength and does not degrade with time.

How old do you have to be to scale a climbing net?

Scaling a climbing net requires a certain level of motor skills in children – both gross motor skills in their major muscle groups and fine motor skills in their hands in order to grip the net. Our age recommendation for play equipment featuring climbing nets is 4+ years. In our view, children this age will be able to join in and have fun on the play system.

What is the climbing net made of?

The ropes used for climbing nets differ, depending on the supplier. At LEDON, we use Taifun rope, which is reinforced with steel wires to guarantee tremendous tensile strength. Also, the rope does not degrade or stretch with use. This makes our climbing nets resistant to vandalism as well as the wind and weather.

Why choose play equipment with a climbing net?

Climbing nets help to support children’s physical and motor development. At the same time, cross-lateral movements with their arms and legs strengthen children’s cognitive development by improving the way in which the two sides of the brain interact. Thus, a climbing net not only makes playing more fun, it also brings physical and mental benefits for children.
