Hals harbour

A large pirate ship in its element

Hals Boat Club in northern Jutland was very keen to have a playground at the harbour where children could play being captain of their own ship. Therefore, and much to the children’s delight, the board chose play equipment from the LEDON Pirates series, which includes the pirate ship Victoria.

The harbour has not previously had a playground and, together with local shops and restaurants, the pirate ship has created an oasis for the whole family. The Municipality of Aalborg demanded that it had to be possible to move the pirate ship. The ship has therefore been installed using concrete brackets for easy relocation.

In addition to all its moving parts, such as a ship’s wheel, compass, anchor and telescope, the ship also has a wobbly plank for audacious pirates or seamen. A treasure map and diamonds can be found in the captain’s cabin as well as the ship’s dungeon. From the upper deck, any captain can whizz down the ship’s slide.

The striking blue rubber surfacing beautifully frames the playground and inspires water-themed play. At the same time, the coloured, impact-resistant polycarbonate windows add another dimension when the panes are lit up in bright sunshine.

The play system is specially designed with a plank. The standard version is shown in the product overview.

JyllandsAkvariet, Thyborøn

Run away to sea with the aquarium’s fishes

JyllandsAkvariet in Thyborøn can now welcome children to the playground’s large pirate ship from LEDON Pirates. JyllandsAkvariet wanted a ship that would catch people’s attention as they entered the aquarium. Moreover, the ship should further inspire children’s games as part of their experience of encountering fish from the North Sea and Limfjorden up close.

JyllandsAkvariet installed the pirate ship itself using our detailed assembly instructions, which are always included with the play equipment.

The pirate ship Victoria has two aft decks with floor heights of 90 cm and 140 cm. On the upper aft deck, children watch the lantern light up or hurtle down the slide. The slide can either be accessed via the steps or the large crawling net at the stern of the ship. The angled crawling net is fun and very educational for children. When making cross-lateral movements with their arms and legs, they train the coordination between the right and left sides of the brain, which helps to improve their reading and writing.

Familieforeningen Kalundborg

A large playground for bringing children and adults together

In Kalundborg on Zealand, a place has been created for young families living in the city to gather. Thanks to the family association Familiehjørnet Kalundborg and the ‘get it fixed’ funding pool from the Municipality of Kalundborg, a dream of having a large playground is now a reality.

The playground features play equipment from several of our theme worlds, so there is something for every age group. The association liked the play equipment from our LEDON MiniPlay series in particular. Laura Deigaard Sørensen, anchorperson for the association, says:

We chose LEDON because we think their equipment matched our wish for a playground that caters for the youngest children, and because they managed to create a coherent solution that made a lot of sense to us. The play equipment appeals to the children with its sweet designs and colours, and stimulates their imagination, motor skills and creativity.

Laura Deigaard Sørensen, Foreningen Familiehjørnet

It was a huge project, and the playground was therefore officially inaugurated by the Mayor of Kalundborg, Martin Damm, with speeches from several stakeholders before Nova, aged 5, helped cut the red ribbon. The playground is now ready to welcome local children and adults as well as visitors.

Laura Deigaard Sørensen has no doubts they now have their dream playground. Commenting on the playground and our collaboration, she says:

Our collaboration with LEDON has been excellent from start to finish. Our communication with LEDON has been good, and they have been very service-minded. LEDON’s consultants were good at listening and understood our needs and wishes regarding the playground design, so that at the end of the day we have a playground that fulfils all our dreams. In addition, all deadlines were met, and they delivered on all counts.

Stagebjergparken, Almind

A new playground slowly takes shape

The Stagebjergparken homeowners’ association wanted to renew their playground, but ideally it had to happen over a period of time. Therefore, they have gradually replaced various pieces of play equipment and adapted the playground to their existing play area.

First, the homeowners’ association chose the ship’s bow section Sixtus, which is part of our LEDON Pirates series. They liked the fact that it had enough space for several children to play at the same time, and that it encourages cooperative play and role-playing. This was exactly what was needed to enhance the play value of the playground.

Next, it was decided to add equipment that would enable children to test their climbing skills. With one of our large play systems from LEDON Basic, fun climbing activities were guaranteed, with challenges even for older children. The large play system is ideal for developing children’s physical and gross motor skills.

The playground has slowly taken shape, and more play activities have been added for the children. Both the LEDON Basic and LEDON Pirates universes can easily be expanded over a period of time. Lots of extra elements can be added should the homeowners’ association want to develop the playground further in future.

AAB Vejle

Head off to sea on the large pirate ship Victoria

The housing association AAB Vejle wanted to update one of their playgrounds. The old playground, which consisted of a climbing tower and slide, needed renewing. The board wanted the new playground to encourage more role-play and to cater for the needs of younger children.

Based on our various suggestions, the board chose the large pirate ship Victoria from our LEDON Pirates theme world. The ship has a wealth of play activities, and is perfect for engaging children of all ages. At ground level it has moving parts and thematic elements such as a treasure chest, telescope, compass, anchor etc. These all encourage cooperative play and role-play as children immerse themselves in the pirate universe. For older children wanting to challenge their physical abilities, there is the large climbing net on the aft deck. This can be used to access the top of the ship, from where the children can slide down.

The pirate ship from LEDON Pirates fulfilled all the housing association’s wishes, and local children now have a play system with lots of activities and great play value. The impressive ship is also eye-catching, and attracts a lot of children as a result.

LP333

A real play-packed pirate universe

Victoria C is one of the three large pirate ships that together with LP331 Maria C and LP335 Absalon C can be surface-mounted. The ships of this size are real pirate universes, with too many activities to list them all here. Apart from the many movable parts, which can also be found on the smaller pirate ships: ship’s wheel, compass, anchor, rubber hatches, telescope etc., on the large pirate ships, children can also play in the captain’s cabin, where there is a treasure map, dungeon, diamonds, rubber hatches, the moving crab and many other play activities.

There are large windows on both sides of the cabin so that adults can keep an eye on activities without disturbing the children. This size of pirate ship includes the beautiful mast with the parrot, and which really underlines the design of the pirate ship.

A large pirate ship for surface-mounting

Our large pirate ships can be supplied for surface-mounting, as in-ground mounting is sometimes not possible. For example on paved areas, roof terraces, indoors etc. For surface mounting, the safety surface rules still apply, and in most cases rubber is the obvious solution. Please note that the ships for surface-mounting do not feature the large crawling net at the stern.

Why choose LEDON Pirates?

  • The play activities at the pirate playground are 100% inspired by children and based on children’s ideas about pirate-themed play activities.
  • In Pirates, several innovative play activities have been designed that stimulate role-play, social interaction and physical play, for example the wobbly plank.
  • The ships are available in many different price classes, and new elements can easily be added to the universe.
  • The pirate ships are divided into zones so that several age groups can play at the same time without disturbing each other.

LP160

Rope tunnel for pirate ships with a floor height of 190 cm

The Pirates series includes a rope tunnel for your pirate ship. The rope tunnel is an extra fun way of accessing the pirate ship’s top aft deck, and is accessed via a rope ladder. The rope tunnel requires children to use cross-body movements to move through it in either direction. This stimulates neural activity between both sides of the brain, which helps them to learn to read and write.

Which pirate ships take the rope tunnel?

The rope tunnel is available in different heights. This rope tunnel fits the following pirate ships: LP411 Olympia, LP413 Atlantic and LP415 Alexandrina. If you like the idea of a rope tunnel with more play activities, take a look at LP171 Sofia or LP180 Helena, which have an additional play environment.
