Lykkegårdskolen

A fun yet challenging play system

At the primary school, Lykkegårdskolen, in Kolding, you will find an impressive playground specifically designed for school aged children. For this project, it was important that the new play system fit within the existing playground space. Equally important was to incorporate multiple play towers to encourage games like tag, allowing children to climb, chase, and explore freely. Additionally, the design needed to include space beneath the structure to act as a “den” or “cave,” fostering imaginative play.

The play system from the Explore theme world, was an optimal choice, as it is one of the most challenging play systems offered in the series, designed to support the development of strength, coordination and gross motor skills as children climb to the high platforms. The play system consists of three platforms which encourage social interaction and cooperative play with other children. The high floor height allows for plenty of space underneath the play system, which is perfect for children seeking a calmer space while still engaging with interactive play panels.

One of the most eye catching design features is the impressive tube slide, which is a fun and thrilling activity that children love. Oftentimes, children will go up and down the slide in a repetitive way, giving them a feeling of accomplishment.

At the lower level, interactive play elements such as the sand kitchen panel, treasure chest and key, which engage children’s fine motor skills while stimulating creativity and cognitive development. Features like the binoculars encourage imaginative play, role-playing and storytelling. Role-playing is a crucial aspect of children’s development, teaching kids social rules, negotiation, compromise, and conflict resolution. All of these skills are valuable beyond the playground, as well as the classroom.

Crowland Parish Council

Large Explore playground for the younger children

In a public area in the English town of Crowland, our partner Online Playgrounds has set up a complete LEDON Explore playground for the area’s smallest children. The towns parish council had decided that it was time to replace the old playground, as it was getting outdated and several pieces of equipment were no longer suitable for use. The wish for the new playground was play equipment in low-maintenance materials.

As all our playground equipment is low-maintenance, the parish council was free to choose between all our theme worlds – and in the end they went with our most popular series, LEDON Explore. In this theme world the range of play equipment is very wide and the large playground was therefore easily equipped with both a large play system, seesaws, swings, a multi-seesaw, a play panel and one of the children’s favorites, the Offroader. The many different play activities help to ensure that there is an opportunity for every kind of play. Whether the children want to engage in role playing, challenge their gross motor skills or experience lots of speed and movement, it can be done on the playground.

At the same time, the dark green poured-in-place rubber surface complements the natural colors of the Explore series and makes the playground blend in with the surrounding trees and green lawns, which frames the area.

Woodlands Spring

A piece of the jungle in the city

In a public residential area in Singapore, our partner Playpoint has set up a playground equipped with play equipment from our theme world LEDON Explore. Despite the urban location, a small piece of the jungle has been created for curious children to explore. With our themed equipment filled with play activities and the green surroundings, the children are quickly transported far away from the city.

The selected play equipment from Explore is particularly suitable for a younger age group. The Sikan play system has a floor height of only 90 cm and a simple climbing bridge, which provides easy access to the system, and allows smaller children to also join in and take a trip down the slide. The off-roader is suitable for role play and it is one of the children’s favorites, while the seesaw is good for challenging the children’s motor skills.

All of the play equipment is linked together by the colorful poured-in-place rubber surfacing, which with its blue and red color creates a good contrast to LEDON Explore’s green and natural appearance

A modern playground that transforms the surrounding area

The new playground at Hou Marina has transformed the area, by creating a new vibrant place for families to visit. The project’s main goal was to replace the outdated wooden play equipment with modern, durable and low-maintenance play structures that would stand the test of time. Sulsted council

A playground that integrates in its natural surroundings

The Sulsted council wished for a new playground with equipment that would integrate seamlessly with its natural surroundings, while offering high play value for a broad age group. This project is a great example of how playground equipment made from HDPE (high density polyethylene) material can still achieve a natural aesthetic, through the colour choices, shapes and forms which can be seen throughout the Explore theme world.

This playground is divided into two main play zones. The first play zone consists of the Zulu play structure, which creates an impressive focal point on the playground and invites children to be adventurous, climb, slide and use their imagination to create a story. The play panels on the lower half of the play structure, allows the younger children to interact with the space, while the older children (ages 6+) can enjoy features such as the impressive tube slide. The combination of the beige and green colour palette complements the natural surroundings, while small details such as the leaves above the steel beams, echos the greenery around the play system.

The second play zone is tucked away among the surrounding trees, and includes some of LEDONs most popular play equipment, such as the Offroader, Bing springer and the Dino slide which is always a hit among the younger children. Each piece of playground equipment has been carefully selected to create a cohesive and inviting play universe.

This activity packed playground offers high play value to a broad age group, encouraging imagination and adventure. With its inviting playground design and thoughtful integration into its natural surrounding, this playground is definitely worth a visit.

This project combines play equipment from LEDONs two popular theme worlds, Pirates and Explore in one playground, sparking instant excitement and invites children to dive into imaginative role play.
