Stepping stones create a coherent playground

The stepping stones in the Pirates series are useful for connecting the pirate universe with an existing playground. In this way, all the playground equipment can become part of a larger balancing course. The stepping stones come in four different heights, ensuring that it is possible to design a balancing course for children of all ages. The stepping stones are often used in games such as ‘the floor is lava’, ‘tag’ and for racing against each other. When children jump from one stepping stone to another, it exercises their gross motor skills, balance and coordination. The galvanized steel posts ensure a solid and maintenance-free construction. Moreover, the stepping stones have a non-slip surface.

Step over the snapping crocodile

Our crocodile features three steps at two levels. When playing on the crocodile, children have to concentrate when moving from one step to the next. This trains both their balance and their eye-foot coordination. The latter is particularly important for the development of children’s fine motor skills. It may seem illogical, but in fact, children must develop eye-foot coordination before they start developing eye-hand coordination, which they use when holding tools or learning to write.

Creates a coherent playground

At the playground, the crocodile can serve two purposes. It is a fun item of balance equipment that can stand on its own or be part of a larger obstacle course. At the same time, its thematic design also sparks children’s creativity and imaginative play. It fits perfectly into the pirate universe, but can easily form part of other theme worlds as well. For example, in LEDON Explore’s deep jungle or in a LEDON Castle moat.

A wobbly experience

The raft offers a wobbly experience. Featuring three springs, the raft is a true paradise for exercising balance and gross motor skills. Your sense of balance is one of the most important functions in the body. Having a well-developed sense of balance and good gross motor skills gives children the courage to test themselves in other ways – running, jumping and sprinting. It also encourages children to play new games with other children, which enhances their social skills.

Raft games

The raft is an ideal element in a larger balancing course, possibly with the stepping stones. Many older children also find the raft fun for balancing competitions. Here, it allows them to find out who is best at keeping their balance while several people are on the raft.

A pirate ship for the smallest of pirates

Sally is a real pirate ship for the youngest children. Sally has been designed with and for the youngest children aged from about 1-4 years of age. Despite Sally’s compact size, the ship is filled with play activities: an anchor that can be raised, a movable compass, a ship’s wheel, rubber slats and so on.

A little ship with a lot of advantages

The big advantage of the pirate ship Sally is, among other things, that it can be delivered 98% assembled on a single pallet. All that needs to be done is for the ground anchor to be mounted, if necessary. The ship can stand without being secured, which allows it to be moved around or taken inside for the winter. The materials which are used to make Sally are 100% reusable, so that when Sally retires, she can become part of a new playground.

LP323

A real play-packed pirate universe

Hafnia is one of our large ships which we have made more inclusive. The ships of this size are real pirate universes, with too many activities to list them all here. Apart from the many movable parts, which can also be found on the smaller pirate ships: ship’s wheel, compass, anchor, rubber hatches, telescope etc., on the large pirate ships, children can also play in the captain’s cabin, where there is a treasure map, dungeon, diamonds, rubber hatches, the moving crab and many other play activities.

There are large windows on both sides of the cabin so that adults can keep an eye on activities without disturbing the children. This size of pirate ship includes the beautiful mast with the parrot, and which really underlines the design of the pirate ship.

An inclusive pirate ship

Hafnia is more inclusive, as it is important to be able to create playgrounds where everyone can join in. Among other things, Hafnia features side openings that make it easy for wheelchair users and people with impaired mobility to get on board the ship. Also, the ship is without the large climbing net at the stern, so the captain’s cabin is more accessible. All play activities are placed at different heights, ensuring it is always possible to play regardless of mobility and ability.

More inclusive play equipment can be found here, where you can read how to best create an inclusive playground.

The flexible pirate ship

The flexible pirate ship allows you to steadily expand your pirate ship, so that your playground investment can stretch over a longer period of time. The advantage of Merkurius is, among other things, that you can place the two sections at a distance to each other, which allows more children to play on and around the pirate ship simultaneously.

A pirate ship filled with play activities

Merkurius has many movable parts: a ship’s wheel, compass, anchor, rubber slats, telescope and so on. You can also play in the Captain’s cabin, where you will find the treasure chest, dungeon, diamond panel, rubber slats, the moveable crab and many other play activities.

There are big windows on each side of the cabin so that adults can keep an eye without disturbing the children engrossed in their play. There are two aft decks, one 90 cm high and the other 140 cm. On the top aft deck, you will also find the lantern, which lights up when the sun shines through the shockproof polycarbonate. It is also from here that you can go down the slide.

The flexible pirate ship (bow)

The flexible pirate ship allows you to steadily expand your pirate ship, so that your playground investment can stretch over a longer period of time. Sixtus is a large bow section, and includes an anchor. You can raise the anchor, use the movable telescope, which can tip and turn, or you can crawl through the rubber slats into the secret cargo room. You can also stand by the moving ship’s wheel and steer your ship onto the seven seas. If you want to see the other part of the flexible pirate ship, take a look at LP099 Merkurius.

Like the rest of the Pirates family, Sixtus is made of 100% reusable materials, so that when Sixtus retires it can become part of a new playground.

LP110

A small ship packed with adventure

The pirate ship Leopold is one of the smallest ships in the series together with LP111 Ofelia and LP113 Christian. These three smaller ships give you the most basic play activities in a limited area of space. Leopold requires an area measuring only 7.2 x 4.4 metres.

The little ships have multiple moving parts: an anchor, keys, diamond panel, rubber slats and the ship’s wheel on the deck. The moving parts stimulate children’s imagination and initiate role-play.

The rubber slats have a special membrane with several layers of microfibre, which makes the material incredibly strong and safeguards against vandalism.

On board the ship’s top deck

The top of the play equipment is accessed via a rope ladder. The rope ladder challenges both balance and gross motor skills, which is why Leopold is recommended for three-year-olds. The deck is raised 90 cm above the ground, a height which allows you to gaze far beyond the horizon.

The ‘galleon’ windows at the back of the ship are made of polycarbonate, which casts colours on the deck and ground in bright sunshine. Polycarbonate is extremely strong, and withstands all weather conditions.

Like the rest of the Pirates series, Leopold is 100% maintenance-free and reusable.

A small ship offering hours of adventurous fun

The pirate ship Ofelia is one of the smallest ships in the series together with LP110 Leopold and LP113 Christian. These three smaller ships provide the most basic play activities in a limited area of space. Ofelia requires an area measuring only 7.2 x 4.7 metres.

The compact ships have numerous moving parts: an anchor, keys, diamond panel, rubber slats and the ship’s wheel on the deck. The moving parts stimulate children’s imagination and initiate role-play.

The rubber slats have a special membrane with several layers of microfibre, which makes the material incredibly strong and safeguards against vandalism.

Set sail for all ages

One of the main features of the pirate ship Ofelia is the steps to the upper deck. The steps allow children as young as two or three to climb up to the top deck and enjoy views across the playground. The ‘galleon’ windows at the back of the ship are made of polycarbonate, which casts colours on the deck and ground in bright sunshine. Polycarbonate is extremely strong, and withstands all weather conditions.

Like the rest of the Pirates series, Ofelia is 100% maintenance-free and reusable.

A small ship for big adventures

The pirate ship Christian is one of the smallest ships in the series together with LP111 Ofelia and LP110 Leopold. These three smaller ships provide the most basic play activities in a limited area of space. Christian requires an area measuring only 7.3 x 6 metres.

The small ships have numerous moving parts: an anchor, keys, diamond panel, rubber slats and the ship’s wheel on the deck. The moving parts stimulate children’s imagination and initiate role-play.

The rubber slats have a special membrane with several layers of microfibre, which makes the material incredibly strong and safeguards against vandalism.

Wind in the sails

The pirate ship Christian features both steps and a slide. The slide has a magnetic effect on children, making the pirate ship Christian the most popular of the smaller ships. Via the stairs, children as young as two or three can board the top deck and from there go down the slide.

The slide is fun, but it also helps to develop children’s understanding of cause and effect, while strengthening their sense of balance and gross motor skills. The ‘galleon’ windows at the back of the ship are made of polycarbonate, which casts colours on the deck and ground in bright sunshine. Polycarbonate is extremely strong, and withstands all weather conditions.
