Description

Jonathan – the ultimate play universe

Jonathan is the ultimate play mecca for tiny tots! Here, up to 20-25 children can play together in the huge play system with four towers. All the activities have been developed in collaboration with children and childcare professionals, so we know that children derive huge enjoyment from the system while their natural development is also being supported at the same time.

The activities on Jonathan include the fiddly finger panel, which is designed as the view from a driver’s seat with a key, steering wheel, gears and a ‘speed’ control, represented by a tortoise and a hare. The panel is designed to stimulate children’s senses as well as their fine motor skills. Activities also include a slide, windows and domes, where children can see their surroundings in a completely new perspective, horizontal and sloping bridges to stimulate motor skills and balance, and a ‘mood panel’ to encourage deeper discussions about how the child is feeling based on the iconic faces. Finally, there is a sand panel and a small shop, where the little handle controls the bell, while the ‘goods-in’ hatch is opened by firmly gripping the yellow knob. The shop also encourages role-play, with all sorts of sand cakes, teddy bears and other toys being passed across the counter. The shop is always located at a low height, so it’s easy for the children to play together and swap places. Everything is designed to support the child’s natural development.

Why is MiniPlay the best playground for young children?

In designing LEDON MiniPlay, special focus was on incorporating age-appropriate activities and features that develop children’s motor skills. This has been possible because we spent an entire year developing, testing and tailoring activities together with children and childcare professionals, such as occupational therapists and physiotherapists. As a result, MiniPlay is geared to the youngest children, and all the activities are designed to support children’s natural development, including their gross and fine motor skills, cross-coordination, linguistic, social and emotional development as well as logical and abstract thinking.

In the MiniPlay universe, children learn to express themselves and their wonderment, interact with others, practise their first words, handle their first conflicts, as well as establish their first friendships and learn about basic social relations. The structures are designed to support the child’s motor skills from about six months and up to four years.

Why choose LEDON MiniPlay?

  • The series has been specifically designed for children aged 0 to 4 years.
  • Suitable for both outdoor and indoor use.
  • Developed in collaboration with children and childcare professionals.
  • Can be installed directly on grass.
  • Height-designed to enable adults to support children as they play.

1/10

Non-slip surface

A 3 mm rubber coating ensures a firm footing for children, even when it is raining and in frosty weather.

2/10

Galvanised and lacquered posts

The posts are powder-coated in beautiful colours to match our theme worlds while also being protected from rust by hot-dip galvanising.

3/10

Easy access for all children

The play systems are easy to access either from the ground, via a crawling ramp or stairs. In this way, all children can participate.

4/10

Low floor height for a sense of security

The floor height is such that an adult can easily stand next to and support children while they are playing, and thus ensure that the children feel safe when exploring the play activities.

5/10

Non-toxic and recyclable polyethylene

The polyethylene boards are 100% recyclable, and contain no hazardous chemicals. They are approved according to the specific requirements of both the EU Toy Safety Directive EN 71 and the US Food Directive.

6/10

Develops fine motor skills

The many moving parts support the development of children’s fine motor skills. Through the stimulation of their fine motor skills, children learn to make small precise movements which, among other things, make it easier for them to hold and control a pencil.

7/10

Coloured polycarbonate

The coloured polycarbonate makes playing extra fun for children as they see the world anew through the windows and domes. Polycarbonate is extremely impact-resistant, whatever the temperature. The material is also UV-protected to prevent the boards from fading when exposed to sunlight.

8/10

Emotional development

The play equipment encourages cooperative play and role-play, which helps children to mirror each other’s behaviour. This stimulates their emotional development and teaches them to handle their own reactions and emotions.

9/10

No burnt fingers on sunny days

The slides are made of polyethylene, which is heat-resistant and therefore does not get too hot to touch in the sunshine.

10/10

A healthy imagination results in better problem-solving

Every function and detail on the play equipment trigger the children’s creativity when playing. Imaginative and creative play is good for children as it strengthens their ability to be flexible and creative in their problem-solving.
