Kiki is a popular playhouse in the Explore universe, because it has a veranda and can therefore accommodate a large number of children. The veranda has an extra bench, and the ‘stove’ play panel inspires children to engage in role-playing games such as playing shop, kitchen etc. Role-playing is particularly important for a child’s development, because it lays the foundations for their understanding of the surrounding world while at the same time they learn social rules and how to compromise and resolve conflicts. The child learns about other children, but also about themselves. Like the other playhouses, the floors in the Kiki playhouse are designed with a specially developed non-slip cubit-grain surface, and so the playhouse does not require a safety surface, and can therefore stand on grass.
