Playground safety through materials

All LEDON products are made from materials such as polyethylene, nylon and steel, which are durable and low-maintenance.

Safety is crucial for both children and adults to be able to move about safely at the playground. Therefore, our materials are carefully selected according to strict requirements regarding both use and maintenance. It is very important for us that the materials do not change over time, as we want to avoid the risk – and the associated dangers – of, for example, cracks and rot, which in the worst case can result in broken posts and top beams.

This is also one of the reasons why our play equipment is not made of wood. Wood is a natural material, which means that star shakes, cracks and rot can occur over the years – and pose a safety risk. We have therefore decided to use materials such as polyethylene, nylon and steel, which are all durable and low-maintenance.

How we ensure safety through materials:

  • We select our materials carefully and meet the strictest requirements regarding both use and maintenance.
  • To prevent rot and cracks, we do not use any living materials.
  • The materials we use include polyethylene, nylon and steel.

By using high-quality polyethylene and steel, we can ensure that our playgrounds do not pose a safety risk, even after 10, 15 or 20 years.

Playground safety through certification

What is TÜV?

TÜV – Technischer Überwachungsverein – is an association of independent experts who specialise in testing and inspecting technical systems, facilities and items in order to minimise and prevent damage and injury. TÜV is internationally recognised, and acts as an independent third party, which ensures that our play equipment complies with all requirements of the EN 1176 standard.

Safety is our number one priority. Therefore, we take responsibility for ensuring that our play equipment is approved and certified according to the European safety standard EN 1176, and that the certification is carried out independently by TÜV.

Independent TÜV certification is your guarantee that our play equipment meets strict safety and quality requirements. This includes, for example, strength calculations and assessments of any risk factors associated with the individual play activities. While maintaining the certifications and the ongoing re-certifications represent a significant cost, it is crucial for us that we can say with complete peace of mind that our playgrounds are safe year after year.

How we ensure safety through certification:

  • The certification and documentation of our play equipment is a regular part of our product development and production.
  • Our play equipment is certified in accordance with the European safety standard EN 1176.
  • The certification is carried out by an independent third party, TÜV.
  • The certificate can always be downloaded from the play equipment’s online product page.
