MiniPlay for the sandpit

MiniPlay’s small Noa play environment is specially designed for sandpit-based activities. With its very low, non-slip floor, even the youngest tots and toddlers can join in the fun. There are sand chutes on the outside and a yellow box for transporting the sand. In addition to the chutes, the moving flowers, butterflies and bees also allow children to train their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.

Want to go shopping?

On the opposite side is the shop, the baker or the school – depending entirely on where your imagination takes you. The small handle controls the bell, while the ‘goods-in’ hatch is opened by firmly gripping the small yellow knob: Both features strengthen motor skills, and also encourage role-play, with all sorts of sand cakes, teddy bears and other toys being passed across the counter. Social interaction and play at its best. The children are kept busy interacting and negotiating, while acting out episodes from their daily lives.

The shop is always placed at a low height, enabling shopkeepers and shoppers to communicate easily with each other and swap places. The shop has a non-slip floor, and the counter is supported to accommodate even the biggest elephant without bending.

A play tower for tiny tots

Anne is one of the single-tower play environments in MiniPlay. With a floor height of only 58 cm, Anne and the rest of the MiniPlay family do not require a safety surface. Moreover, all the floors are designed with cubic grain for a non-slip surface so that even the smallest feet stand firm. Anne’s slide is perfect for the youngest children: It will bring smiles to their excited faces, but it’s also important for their natural development. Going down a slide trains the children’s gross motor skills and balance while teaching them about gravity, distance and speed.

MiniPlay as an educational tool

The Anne play tower also has a ‘mood panel’ and a weather panel. The symbolic details can be used for language training or as topics for discussion as part of the child’s cognitive and social development. The panels can also lead to a deeper discussion about how the child is feeling by referring to the iconic faces. The bee, which can be rotated towards a particular mood, gives the child something to personify with, so that you can ask: “Is the bee happy today?”. This can make it much easier for children to express their feelings. The other side of the play panel is designed to encourage discussions about the weather. Here, the red arrow can be turned to point at the different weather symbols.

Explore the crown of the tree or hide away in the hollow trunk

Lui is a single-tower MiniPlay play environment. From the crown of the tree, children can discover the world from up high through the dome window, which is made of impact-resistant polycarbonate.  The small window on the other side encourages social interaction while enabling children to observe their surroundings.

Underneath the floor, you can climb into the secret lair, which is ideal for swapping secrets and telling stories, or playing ‘sleeping bear’. The sky is the limit.

Lui has been developed for tots and toddlers

Like the rest of the MiniPlay family, Lui has been developed for children aged 0-4 years. In designing the series, the focus has been on incorporating age-appropriate activities and features that develop children’s motor skills. Over a whole year, we have developed, tested and tailored activities together with children and childcare professionals, for example occupational therapists and physiotherapists. This ensures that MiniPlay is geared to the youngest children, and that all the activities are designed to support children’s natural development, including their gross and fine motor skills, cross-coordination, linguistic, social and emotional development as well as logical and abstract thinking.

Jonas challenges motor skills and balance

Jonas is one of the charming two-tower play environments in MiniPlay. Thanks to its size and the number of play activities, it accommodates up to 10-12 children. The children can access the play environment using the traditional stairway with low steps and handgrips or via the crawling ramp. The crawling ramp has steps which can be used for holding onto and crawling up, or – even harder – walking up and keeping your balance. The bridge not only connects the two towers – children can use it as a place to pause and observe their surroundings through the window, or play hide-and-seek. Go on the slide and feel the rush of excitement, or see the world from a new perspective through the dome window in the tree top.

Play panel for fiddly fingers

Like the rest of the MiniPlay family, Jonas is designed to support children’s motor skill development from about six months and up to four years. One of the really exciting play panels is the car/bee panel.

On the outside of the panel is a beehive and a moving bee, which flies from flower to hive. The height and the meandering track both challenge children’s fine motor skills and their sense of movement.

The other side of the panel resembles the view from a car driver’s seat with a key, steering wheel, gears and a ‘speed’ control, represented by a tortoise and a hare. The key hangs from a galvanised metal chain, which stimulates the senses and fine motor skills, and makes this panel perfect for little fiddly fingers.

The first playground – the first friendships

Ella is a two-tower play environment with play activities for up to 10-12 children aged 0-4 years. Ella might be one of the first pieces of playground equipment a child encounters. It is designed to encourage crawling, standing and walking. But it will also encourage children to start learning to express themselves and their wonderment, interact with others, practise their first words, handle their first conflicts, as well as establishing their first friendships and learning about basic social relations. Ella offers plenty of scope for fun and games, and supports the child’s natural development.

Playgrounds can be used as educational tools

The age-appropriate activities on Ella include movable flowers, butterflies and bees to stimulate children’s fine motor skills, and at the same time encourage discussions and language training. Ella also has a ‘mood panel’, with faces that can lead to deeper discussions about how the child is feeling. The other side of the panel is designed to encourage a talk about the weather: Here, the child can turn a red arrow to point it at different weather symbols, paving the way for a chat about summer activities or which clothes to wear to stay warm in winter.

Want to go shopping?

Olivia is one of the two-tower play environments in the MiniPlay universe. The play environment accommodates up to 10-12 children, who are guaranteed heaps of fun romping and charging about in the exciting surroundings. Among other things, Olivia features the popular shop. The small handle is used to sound the bell, while ‘goods-in’ are received through the rubber hatch – both of which help develop children’s motor skills and encourage role-play. In the small shop, the sky is the limit in terms of what can be served over the counter: Toys, teddies, sand cakes – endless possibilities. Through role-play and social interaction, children play out what they have observed from day-to-day shopping scenarios, and learn the first social rules.

The shop is always located at a low height, enabling shopkeepers and shoppers to communicate easily with each other, and the counter is supported to accommodate even the biggest elephant without it bending.

Can you catch the brightly coloured butterfly?

The transition between the two towers is an experience in itself. The sloping bridge features Olivia’s butterfly, whose wings are made of unbreakable transparent polycarbonate in red and yellow. This enables the children to see the world in a new light, but also to hide or to try and catch the butterfly’s wings when they light up on the floor. The sloping bridge challenges most children’s motor skills, as they find it difficult to balance on their short legs. The second tower offers access to the driving position, where the key, steering wheel and movable buttons will put even the most determined racers to the test, all the while training their fine motor skills. On top of which there is the slide, which will provide rushes of exhilaration and sheer joy while training both gross motor skills and balance.

Astrid is a play universe for tots and toddlers

Astrid is one of the largest play environments in the MiniPlay family, quite apart from Filippa and Jonathan, the ultimate play environments. Astrid welcomes children to a world of play. The system comprises an impressive three towers that are accessed via the low steps and handgrips or via the crawling ramp, which is perfect for the youngest children – while training their gross motor skills and balance. From the two bridges, the children can observe their surroundings through the two large windows or play hide-and-seek and other games. They can also take a look through the dome in the tree top, or crawl into the secret lair in the trunk underneath the floor. One of Astrid’s towers has a ‘fiddly finger panel’, which is designed to resemble the view from a car driver’s seat with a key, steering wheel, gearstick and a ‘speed’ control, represented by a tortoise and a hare. The key hangs from a galvanised metal chain, which stimulates the senses and fine motor skills.

Astrid provides challenges while supporting children’s natural development

Astrid has many age-appropriate activities designed to support children’s natural development, including their gross and fine motor skills, cross-coordination as well as linguistic, social and emotional development. There are also challenges which cannot be surmounted the first time the child has a go, but this is a natural part of growing up. Through practice and pluckiness in a safe environment, children will have their first experiences of success through being able to do things for themselves and mastering their bodies. This in turn gives them the confidence to try new things. Astrid and the rest of the MiniPlay family are carefully designed to effectively stimulate and support children’s physical development from when they start in nursery and until they move on to kindergarten and school.

Filippa is a play mecca for the youngest

Filippa is one of the largest play environments in MiniPlay, quite apart from Astrid and Jonathan, which is by far the biggest play system. Filippa is a good size and accommodates many children at the same time. It will fulfil every toddler’s dreams for a playground, for example a shop where everything can be bought over the counter or passed through the rubber ‘goods-in’ hatch. There is even a working bell. The sloping bridge trains motor skills and balance, while the world can be seen in a completely new perspective through the butterfly’s coloured wings, which light up in the sunshine. Children can also enjoy the sense of excitement in launching themselves down the slide, which will also make them feel confident with gravity and teach them about distance and speed.

Memory game for all ages

Filippa is packed with turning, spinning and moving features – among other things the moving flowers, butterflies and bees, which exercise children’s fine motor skills while also serving as topics for discussion and language training. One play panel which is particularly good at encouraging children to talk and for language training is the memory game. The four creatures represent different colours; the bottom two creatures crawl, and the top two fly. This soon prompts exchanges about animals and colours, and guessing where the creatures have hidden. At the same time, the game exercises the children’s fine motor skills and language skills.

Jonathan – the ultimate play universe

Jonathan is the ultimate play mecca for tiny tots! Here, up to 20-25 children can play together in the huge play system with four towers. All the activities have been developed in collaboration with children and childcare professionals, so we know that children derive huge enjoyment from the system while their natural development is also being supported at the same time. The activities on Jonathan include the fiddly finger panel, which is designed as the view from a driver’s seat with a key, steering wheel, gears and a ‘speed’ control, represented by a tortoise and a hare. The panel is designed to stimulate children’s senses as well as their fine motor skills. Activities also include a slide, windows and domes, where children can see their surroundings in a completely new perspective, horizontal and sloping bridges to stimulate motor skills and balance, and a ‘mood panel’ to encourage deeper discussions about how the child is feeling based on the iconic faces. Finally, there is a sand panel and a small shop, where the little handle controls the bell, while the ‘goods-in’ hatch is opened by firmly gripping the yellow knob. The shop also encourages role-play, with all sorts of sand cakes, teddy bears and other toys being passed across the counter. The shop is always located at a low height, so it’s easy for the children to play together and swap places. Everything is designed to support the child’s natural development.

Why is MiniPlay the best playground for young children?

In designing LEDON MiniPlay, special focus was on incorporating age-appropriate activities and features that develop children’s motor skills. This has been possible because we spent an entire year developing, testing and tailoring activities together with children and childcare professionals, such as occupational therapists and physiotherapists. As a result, MiniPlay is geared to the youngest children, and all the activities are designed to support children’s natural development, including their gross and fine motor skills, cross-coordination, linguistic, social and emotional development as well as logical and abstract thinking. In the MiniPlay universe, children learn to express themselves and their wonderment, interact with others, practise their first words, handle their first conflicts, as well as establish their first friendships and learn about basic social relations.

The structures are designed to support the child’s motor skills from about six months and up to four years.

Learn to crawl, stand and walk

The Brum the Bee crawling bridge is designed for tots and toddlers who are learning to crawl, stand and walk. Brum the Bee is designed to give even the youngest children something to hold onto so that they can pull themselves up when practising how to keep their balance. The specially developed cubic grain floor provides a non-slip surface, so even the smallest feet stand firm. Brum the Bee’s wings are made of transparent polycarbonate, enabling children to keep an eye on what’s happening around them – even at crawling height.

Indoor or outdoor – EN1176-approved

The Brum the Bee crawling bridge is for indoor as well as outdoor use. Outside, it will provide hours of fun throughout the summer, after which it can be washed and brought inside during the winter months. Indoors, we recommend placing it on a carpet. Like the rest of the LEDON MiniPlay series, Brum the Bee is approved and certified in accordance with the European standard EN1176, which guarantees that MiniPlay complies with strict quality and safety requirements. Brum the Bee is made of LEDON’s own polyethylene material. As a result, Brum the Bee requires very little maintenance. And when Brum the Bee comes to the end of its life, the material is 100% recyclable and can be used to make a new playground.
